Cornwall curling team to receive national “Team of the Year” award!

The PEI Special Olympics Curling Team, which curls regularly out of the Cornwall Curling Club, has been announced as winners of Special Olympics Canada’s Team of the Year. The rink, skipped by Greg St. John (who, Facebook tells me, is celebrating a birthday today!) won a gold medal at the Special Olympics National Winter Games in February in St. Albert Alberta.

The awards gala will take place in Toronto on November 29.

In May, the team won PEI curling’s ADL/Sport PEI “Team of the Year” honours.

Other members of the team are Phillip Chugg, John Anthony Laybolt, Monique Gauthier and Chris MacPherson, with head coach Dick St. John, assistant coach Ann Doucette, and team manager Paula Gauthier.

Congratulations to the team for a well-deserved national award!
