Pitre, an Alberton native who previously curled out of the Western Community Curling Club, along with third stone Tony Nabuurs and second stone Parker O’Connor, won Sunday’s final 7-1. Lead Noah O’Connor was sidelined with an injury.
The Pitre rink, coached by Arny Nabuurs, finished the three-day event 6-1 (won-lost), losing its only game to Alex MacFadyen of Summerside – the same rink Smith beat 8-7 to move on to Sunday’s final.
On the women’s side, the Jennifer Armstrong rink of the Fredericton Curling Club defeated the Emily Manuel foursome from Halifax’s Mayflower Curling Club 9-2 in the final.
Armstrong beat the Cornwall Curling Club’s Veronica Smith rink 10-5 in the semifinal, and ended the weekend with a 6-1 record.
