It was a busy weekend at the club for our Novice and Little Rock curlers!

On Saturday, we hosted our annual O’Connor Glass U13 Funspiel. Forty-eight curlers from Cornwall, Crapuad, and Summerside clubs participated in the event. Each team played two 4-end games and entertained spectators with some great shots! For lunch, we enjoyed pizza and garlic fingers from Sam’s and chocolate milk donated by ADL. At the end of the event, each curler went home with a prize. Lots of fun was had by all!

We would like to send a huge thank you to our volunteers, coaches, and sponsors – O’Connor Glass, Sam’s, and ADL. Without your help, we would not be able to host such successful events.

On Sunday, our Novice and Little Rock curlers participated in the Hit, Draw, Tap competition.

The Hit, Draw, Tap is a national shot-making competition in which curlers in three age groups (6-8, 9-10, 11-13) are scored on their ability to throw a draw to the button, hit and stay, and tap a rock from the top-12 to the button.

We welcomed Amy Duncan and Peter Gallant from Curl PEI who organized various Hit, Draw, Tap events in curling clubs across the province. Our winners in each category were as follows:

6-8 – Brandon Whalley (58 points)
9-10 – Charlee Smith (12 points)
11-13 – Ephraim Fraser (19 points)

Brandon is also currently ranked 7th in Canada. Great job, Brandon, and congratulations to all participants on a great afternoon of shot-making!

Afterwards, the curlers enjoyed some Timbits and hot chocolate.

We would like to send a huge thank you to Amy and Peter for organizing the event, our Sunday coaches for scoring the kids, and the parents who help serve hot chocolate every Sunday.

We couldn’t have ran this event without you!

The Club is also very appreciative of all the work Sarah Doak, our junior coordinator, put into this weekend – great job Sarah!
