The Wednesday Evening Ladder League had another great season, thankfully missing last season’s weather problems, at least until the final round, when we missed two of the six weeks in the already-shortened round.

The A pool in the last round was won by the Paul Durant rink, who also won round two. This time, the Durant foursome won all four games played, the only team to do so.

The B pool was more complicated, with four teams, skipped by Mark MacDonald, Greg Groves, Paul Neima, and Ray Biagé, winning three of the four games. The MacDonald rink only managed to field two players for the final game (the rules require three players to avoid a default), which would give them zero instead of 1 points, so they would be eliminated from the results, leaving three teams (the MacDonald rink aren’t going home empty-handed, though, having won a previous round).

Looking at head to head results, Groves beat Biagé but lost to Neima. Neima beat Groves, but did not play Biagé. Biagé lost to Groves, and did not play Neima. Since the three teams did not all play each other we cannot look at the head to head results or the score differentials against each other, and have to go to total scores against all the teams they played.

Biagé total score: 29, Neima total score: 32, Groves total score: 32 (for the record, MacDonald had 28). It’s a points tie between the Groves and Neima rinks!  Since Neima beat Groves in their round robin encounter, we’re awarding the prize to the Neima rink.
