2021-22 Season Recap Part One

Despite an extended shutdown of PEI sporting and recreational facilities mandated by the Chief Public Health Office, it was another successful season here at the Cornwall Curling Club. Thanks to everyone who contributed to making this happen! Here are links to some of the important stories from season-opening through the resumption of league play on February 17. We will recap the second part of the season later.

Oct. 19: Ice ready, including new sponsored vinyl houses.

Oct 25 – Cornwall teams hit the ice in Halifax, with Ella Lenentine winning her event, and Brayden Snow and Shelly Bradley making the ch’ship round in theirs

Oct 31 former member Katie Shaw and N. Ontario’s Team Ladouceur advance to World Jr. Qualifier event. 

Nov. 3: Cornwall member Adam Casey qualifies for Olympic Curling Trials

Nov. 7. Cornwall’s Team Schut wins TSA Jr. Cashspiel in Saint John NB 

Nov. 12-14 O’Connor Glass U16 Spiel held 

Nov 18-19 Masters Plus spiel held 

Nov. 20 Murphy’s Pharmacy Ice Queens Women’s Funspiel 

Nov. 28 N. Ont. Women (with former Cornwall member Katie Shaw), and NS Men will represent Canada at upcoming World Jr. Curling Ch’ships in Sweden (Curling Canada)

Dec. 2nd Stick curlers curl and make Food Bank donation at annual Desjardins Financial Services tournament!

Dec. 6th Curl for Cancer moves to Cornwall Curling Club 

Dec. 8th Monday Eve. Single-Entry Mixed: Gardiner rink wins Montana’s-sponsored Round One 

Dec. 9th Cdn. Seniors: Cornwall’s Dolan rink (3-3) beats defending champ but just misses ch’ship pool with loss to BC, PEI men finish round robin at 2-4 and also go to the seeding pool (Curling Canada)

Dec. 9th Combined Cornwall/Montague team win inaugural PEI Mixed Stick Ch’ship
