2021-22 Season Recap Part Two

Despite an extended shutdown of PEI sporting and recreational facilities mandated by the Chief Public Health Office, it was another successful season here at the Cornwall Curling Club. Thanks to everyone who contributed to making this happen! Feb. 27: Summerside’s Lou Nowlan wins his 16th PEI Masters men’s ch’ship, while Cornwall’s Rachel MacLean skips her 1st Pepsi Junior Women’s ch’ship team

Feb. 28: Nine teams, including Cornwall’s Doherty and MacMillan rinks, to compete in PEI Mixed Curling Ch’ship, starting Thurs. in Crapaud

Feb. 28: Cornwall’s Schut rink undefeated as it wins back-to-back junior men’s curling ch’ships, Cornwall’s Rachel MacLean-skipped team overcomes slow start to win P.E.I. junior women’s curling crown (SaltWire)

Feb. 28: Three Cornwall teams and one Maple Leaf rink to compete in PEI U13 Ch’ship, starting Saturday in Montague

March 4: Coaching Super Series for Cornwall Junior Practice Members and Junior Coaches!

March 6: Cornwall’s Savill rink wins PEI U13 Open Ch’ship, with win over Cornwall’s Myers team in the final

March 10: ParaSport-Cornwall Curling Club Mini Spiel makes donation to the Red Cross

March 10: Sweet/Matheson (Open Division), Cornwall’s Stavert/Clarke (Women’s Div.) repeat as Ferguson-Logan Montague Funeral Home PEI Stick Champs

March 12: Host club rinks in Winners Circle at Youth Jamboree here at Cornwall

March 12: Ch’ship Rounds set at PEI U18 in Crapaud, with Cornwall’s Lenentine and Snow getting byes to the finals

March 12: Dalton beats Snow in final to win PEI U18 Boys Ch’ship, Carver forces 6 pm deciding Girls game vs Lenentine

March 13: Cornwall’s Ella Lenentine rink beats Sydney Carver team in an extra end to win PEI U18 Girls Ch’ship

March 17: Cornwall’s Bradley team, and defending Men’s champion Gorveatt rink qualify 1st for PEI Seniors (50+) Ch’ship rounds

March 18: Jennifer Jones joins forces with Team Zacharias, which includes Cornwall member Lauren Lenentine (Curling Zone)

March 19: Cornwall’s Bradley, and defending Men’s champion Gorveatt sweep 2022 PEI Seniors (50+) Ch’ships. Cornwall’s Berry, MacDonald teams are finalists

March 20: Thurs. evening Round 2 Winners, Round 3 Teams and Draw

March 21: Dunsford / Sanderson team win Cornwall Cup stick curling tourney

March 24: Cornwall and S’Side men, Montague and Crapaud women unbeaten after opening day action at PEI Curling Club Ch’ships in Summerside

March 24: Coaching Super Series Session 1 with Craig Savill a-“peeling” success!

March 26: U16 Development League season wrapped up today

March 27: Host S’side teams sweep men’s, go 5-2 in women’s to capture PEI Curling Club Ch’ships. Cornwall’s Doherty rink make the men’s final

March 29: Cornwall’s Team Schut at 2-3 win-loss following New Holland Canadian U21 win over Manitoba #2 (Curling Canada)

April 1: Undefeated NS #1 Women with former Cornwall member Lauren Ferguson, along with Ont. #1 Men, win New Holland Canadian U21 Ch’ships (Curling Canada)
