OBITUARY
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Constance “Connie” Denison Auld on October 2, 2026 at The Mount Continuing Care Community.
Born in Magog, Quebec, on April 7, 1929, to the late Kathleen and Rowland Whitehead, Connie spent her early years in England and Switzerland before returning to Canada to work as a nurse in Toronto. There she met her husband Bill, and in 1960, they moved to his ancestral home in Malpeque, PEI, where they built a life together and raised their family until Bill’s passing in 1992.
Connie was an inspiration. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. An avid traveller, she visited much of the world in her lifetime. Travel highlights for her included walking among the penguins in Antarctica, riding a camel in Tunisia, holding a koala in Australia, and seeing the wild horses on Sable Island. Connie was a registered nurse and caregiver, and she cared deeply for the welfare of animals. She was a dedicated community volunteer, a Life Member of the PEI Women’s Institute, a tour guide at Government House, and a cruise ship greeter. Connie loved opera, hosting family and friends at the Keir Homestead with her husband Bill, and swimming in the sea. She was a expert knitter, did intricate needlepoint and baked the best chocolate chip cookies.
To her loved ones, she was Mum, Grandma, Gran and Great Gran, Aunt Connie and simply “Con”. She will be forever loved and missed.
Connie is survived by her daughters Julie (Randall) Hipson of Brookside, NS, and Ann Auld of Charlottetown; her grandchildren Will (Erika), Mark (Pema), Jack (Anaik) and Katie (Andrew); and her great grandchildren Josie and Lincoln. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill, her brother Richard and infant daughter Kathleen.
Our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Mount for the care and kindness they showed Connie during her brief stay with them.
An informal visitation and reception to celebrate Connie’s life will be held at the Belvedere Funeral Home on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 3:00-5:00pm. Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the PEI Humane Society or The Upper Room Food Bank and Soup Kitchen.
